Did you know that 23% of landfill waste comes from containers and packaging from grocery stores? How shocking is that?! Thankfully our environmentally-conscious neighbours at Highgate Wine Estate, know all about environmental stress that goes hand-in-hand with the retail industry and have decided to host South Africa’s first ever waste-free market! Taking place on the beautiful grounds of the wine estate on Saturday 27 April 2019 between 4 and 9pm, all participating stalls have a vision of reducing their carbon footprint and the production of sustainable products.
Stalls include The Green Needle, selling beeswax sandwich and snack bags, Sunny and Bear clothing for kids and adults, Manna Roastery selling coffee beans in glass jars, The CoffeeSmiths, who you already know from Piggly Wiggly, will be supplying you with your caffeine kick (remember to bring your own mug as they won’t be using takeaway cups).
Co-hosting this innovative event together with Highgate, Bear Necessity will also have a stall, selling eco-mugs, shampoo bars and package-free sunblock! These are just a few of the stalls that will be part of the event so be sure to follow Highgate Wine Estate on their Facebook and Instagram to keep up to date. Diarize this ground-breaking event in your calendar for a fun evening out in the Midlands! We will definitely see you there!
